Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

What we collect

TrueVote collects only what you voluntarily provide:

  • Email address — if you sign up for notifications. We store this securely and use it only to send you the updates you requested.
  • Search queries — candidate names you search may be logged temporarily for debugging and performance monitoring. These are not linked to individuals.

We do not collect your name, phone number, location, payment information, or any account credentials. There is no user account system.

What we don't do

  • We do not sell your data to anyone
  • We do not share your email with political campaigns, parties, or PACs
  • We do not use tracking pixels, behavioral ad networks, or data brokers
  • We do not build user profiles or behavioral histories

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the site is used — for example, which candidate pages are most visited. Any analytics we use are configured without cross-site tracking and do not fingerprint individual users.

Data from public sources

The candidate and financial data on TrueVote comes entirely from public federal databases (FEC, Congress.gov, Senate EFTS). This information is already public — we aggregate and present it in a readable format. We do not augment public records with private data.

Your rights

If you have provided your email address and would like it removed from our database, email us at the address on our contact pagewith the subject line “Delete my data.” We will remove it within 5 business days and confirm.

Security

Email addresses are stored in an encrypted database with access restricted to TrueVote team members. We use industry-standard TLS encryption for all data transmission.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above. We will not retroactively apply new data practices to information collected under a previous policy.
