1. What TrueVote is

TrueVote is an informational website that aggregates and displays public data from federal government sources including the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Congress.gov, and mandatory financial disclosure databases. All data shown on TrueVote is derived from public records.

2. No warranties on data accuracy

While we work to present accurate data, TrueVote makes no warranties about the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of information on this site. FEC data may be delayed, incomplete, or subject to amendment by filers. Congressional record data may not reflect the most recent session activity.

We strongly encourage you to verify information directly with primary sources (FEC.gov, Congress.gov) before making important decisions based on it.

3. Not legal or political advice

Nothing on TrueVote constitutes legal advice, financial advice, or a recommendation to vote for or against any candidate. The accountability grades are algorithmic summaries of public data — not endorsements, verdicts, or conclusions about any individual's character or fitness for office.

4. Use of the site

You may use TrueVote for personal, journalistic, educational, and research purposes. You may not:

  • Scrape or bulk-download data in ways that harm site performance
  • Use TrueVote data in paid political advertising without disclosing TrueVote as the source
  • Misrepresent TrueVote scores as official government ratings
  • Use the site to harass individuals

5. Intellectual property

The underlying public data is not owned by TrueVote — it is public domain. Our original work includes the code, scoring algorithms, design, and written explanations. These remain our property but we welcome non-commercial reuse with attribution.

6. Disclaimer of liability

TrueVote is provided “as is” without any guarantee of availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for decisions made based on information presented on this site.
